In this blog, we'll be ranking our top 10 mods of all time! This includes any mod from any version, and will take addons into account. If you're a modded Minecraft expert, it's unlikely we'll show off anything that you've not seen before, but despite that we hope you can enjoy our list regardless.

At number 10, we're putting Sophisticated Backpacks. While not a massive content mod on their own, even in a completely Vanilla game they will add to your item management systems tenfold, being able to do many different things and really allow for a more nomadic playthrough. In modpacks, this mod is almost essential for starting out, as the amount of modded items can be overwhelming for someone who had just started the modpack.

Tetra ranks at number 9, being a spiritual successor to Tinker's Construct. The systems it employs for modifying tools is unrivaled. While some choices are confusing, like the intentional obfuscation on how the mod works, it is still an extremely powerful mod with a lot to learn. Once you truly understand it, you can make some insanely strong tools and weapons!

Refined Storage is yet another hero for modpacks, making it number 8 in our list. While it's not as glamorous as it's common counterpart, Applied Energistics 2, it is much simpler and cheaper to create! While it does cost power to run, the potential is well worth it. Managing your thousands of items has never been easier with Refined Storage. While we'd love to place the common chest linking mods in this spot, they are known to cause item corruptions and lag, making them a bit tricky to use and manage compared to disk-based storage.

Firmly at number 7, Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks is one of the coolest mods we've had the pleasure of using. Being an easy to use magic mod, it doesn't have very much competition as most other magic mods have a requirement for many keybinds and overly complex systems with no real benefit. This mod has neither, having a great payoff for using it without hogging precious keybinds!

Ars Nouveau, like Iron's, is a magic mod that offers an absurd amount of potential, making it easily our number 6. Similar to Noita's spellcrafting system, it uses conditions and effects for its casting, allowing you to make some truly ridiculous combinations. On top of having one of the most simple but complex magic systems, it also has some other things that will allow for some automation and even a boss you can fight!

At the halfway point of number 5, Immersive Engineering hits like a railgun. Despite being an older mod, this mod is commonly referred to as the 'original Create', having massive multiblocks and a power system more interesting than your bog standard wire. It has a variety of different blocks and machines, all being very cool to set up and automate. You can also make a railgun and a revolver, both of which being revolutionary in their original versions!

At number 4 Tinker's Construct easily takes the place, being the original tool modification mod. While not at all balanced, the mod is extremely fun to mess with, allowing you to make some truly ridiculous tools. Now being updated to modern versions, the joys of this mod can be experienced at any time! While being one of the most complex mods on this list, it is still well worth it for the sheer amount of power and fun you can have with it.

Astral Sorcery ranks in at number 3, being yet another older mod but still very fun in it's own right. While many may not have truly given it a shot, the effects and glamour of this mod outshine most others. Featuring many dazzling multiblocks, a thorough rock crystal system, and a levelling system with abilities that will give you the edge against mobs!

Create being number 2 isn't a huge surprise, being a revolutionary mod for modern Minecraft versions, making it truly shine over the older ones. While it's drastically overused in modpacks, we're not letting that take away from the fact that the mod is amazing, having tons of addons to mess around with if you ever get bored of the main mod.

Finally, at number 1, is Thaumcraft. While many different people prefer different versions of the mod, we like all of them equally. A mod that is over a decade old, still truly magical at its roots. This is one of the very few mods you can learn nearly inside-out without opening a wiki at any point. Allowing for some powerful magical sets, and rudimentary trigger spell system, it can truly be called one of the best mods of all time. One of the only bad parts about the mod is that it is stuck on an older version, with the port for it to newer versions underway.
