In this blog, we'll be exploring the upcoming Rust Naval update on February 6th, 2025. While it was planned for a December release in 2025, the Facepunch team admitted that they bit off more than they could chew, pushing it back to the current release date. Some of the sneak peeks shown off are exciting and still relevant.

You'll be able to set sail into a new deep sea biome, accessible after sailing beyond the border of the main island. Beyond here, you'll be able to find new and exciting things like floating cities, new islands, and abandoned ships. While that may not be all that can be found on the seas, the showcased content so far is exciting.

Floating city concept

Floating cities will be a popular hotspot of high risk, high reward, having greenhouses, vendors, and new quests. On top of this, there will be slot machines, poker tables, and even a recycler. The risk comes in at the fact that PVP is still enabled on these cities, requiring a well-stocked number of supplies to hold your own at these new locations.

Tropical islands preview

Tropical islands, while not nearly as interesting, will be quite nice to visit. The developers had last stated they won't be able to be settled on, but may serve a greater purpose down the line. They could serve for treasure spots or potential event locations in the future.

Ghost ship encounter

Ghost ships will roam the seas, controlled by AI and yet another threat on the seas for the players to face. While they won't be nearly as threatening as players, they will still serve to challenge and reward the player accordingly.

Modular boat building system

In this update, Facepunch will be adding a modular boat building system, allowing you to build your own custom boats you can combat each other with. While there are obviously limits, a system that allows you to build your own boat is quite amazing to begin with. Be careful, though, as once you finish building your boat, you won't be able to modify it again.

We'll be hosting servers for it the day the update comes out, so you can count on us when it finally releases. Get ready to sail the seas by de-rusting your Rust skills right now! Check out our top-notch server rental plans here: Rust Server Hosting

Our service is straightforward, and it only takes a few clicks once your server is purchased to get your server up and running! If you want to install mods or change games after you're finished, we'd be more than happy to help you with doing that.
