Stoneblock 4

In this blog, we'll be reviewing the anticipated Stoneblock 4 from the Feed the Beast team. At nearly 900K downloads, this pack of stone is sure to make for an interesting playthrough. This pack challenges your problem-solving skills and resource management skills Starting off; you're met with the Echoes, holographic villager entities that will guide you through this pack whilst selling you items that you may or may not need.

Once you speak to the Guidance, you'll be allowed to enter the nether portal upstairs to start your journey. We recommend picking anything but the starter cave in pure darkness, as that's sure to make your start difficult. Once you begin, you're able to break open some stone for pebbles and make some cobblestone to make a crafting table. From there, following the quests will eventually have you locating the Healing Spring and recovering some villagers for sieving.

Shortly after completing the introductory chapter of the quest book, you'll be allowed to enter the World Engine, a central piece of progression from start to finish. Some crucial items will be locked behind this machine, so it is imperative you progress towards repairing it with upgrades! From things like an Applied Energistics 2 controller to Pipez pipes, you'll find this machine to be crucial throughout the entire playthrough.

We won't spoil everything, but if you dig far out enough you may find yourself in new lands, both familiar and unique. There's at least 10+ layers for you to find, all featuring unique structures and vaults that challenge various skills. Our personal favourite was the Create vault, being very unique and requiring almost no combat whatsoever. A close runner-up would be the Portal vault.

There are, however, still many combat encounters you'll be required to be prepared for. Once you find yourself deep enough into the pack, you'll need to take advantage of everything at your disposal to take down some familiar, mighty bosses.

While there's much more we could cover in this blog, we don't want to spoil everything for you. This pack is tech-heavy, with a drizzle of magic and exploration. If this pack interests you at all, grab some friends and rent a server to play on! We offer this modpack in our 1-click modpack installer, so if this interests you at all, then buy a server with us and try it out! Check out our Minecraft Server Hosting
